another symbolic victory for the forces of blogofascism:
the flag-burning ammendment/partial revocation of the First Ammendment came appallingly close to passing today, short one vote in the Senate. Figuratively speaking the brownshirts of the blogofascist PEFOKA army came within 1% of suffering a critical blow in the clash of incivilities. Let us celebrate with a disturbing, offensive image of heinous flag desecration, if you have young children you may wish to lock them in a dark closet before viewing:

Of course, being meaningful only on some esoteric, metaphorical level this whole matter is primarily a means of distraction, to which the only adequate response is to reach for your wallet:

was introduced [as an ammendment to the estate tax repeal bill] last year with the co-sponsorship of several Democratic senators from the major timber-producing states, including Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, both from Washington, Mark Pryor of Arkansas, and Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu.
Those lawmakers helped kill the controversial Senate proposal to repeal the estate tax, which was defeated by three votes earlier this month. But if they switch sides on the pending, modified bill, they could achieve the 60-vote majority needed to move the legislation forward.
