Ides of April: Desire

On April 15, 2002 the second
iteration of the Ides of Month occured in the dark
recesses of the
Elbo
Room's basement. Poorly equiped poets kept indigenous troglodytes at bay
with broken beer bottles.
The evening consisted of loosely assembled
pieces of poetry, performance, and music. The lineup
included poetry by Kate Schwartz; songs by
Andy Levin and Steve Levin; improvisatory music by
Kotaro Seki, Andrew Kapsalis, Larry Brown, David
DelCiello, and Zebulun; Ian Chipman's poem, "Desire",
adapted and directed by Andy Fife, featuring Carissa
Johnson, Julia Hathaway, and Dave DelCiello; and Kelly
Lewis's poem, "The Pomegranate", read by Laura Forbes,
with slides by Carissa Johnson.
Through a bizzare variety of circumstances beyond the reckoning of the present author
Julia Hathaway, Dave DelCiello, and Andy Fife embarked shortly after the performance on a road
trip of epic proportions to perform "Desire" in New York, NY, to wide vernacular acclaim.
